aviation books
I know somewhere there is a thread on aviation books.
I can't find it, but nonetheless maybe someone can help
me. I would like to purchase myself a christmas present
of a number of aviation related books, but from a single
internet bookseller. I'm not much interested in finding
the titles and then looking through the Amazon booksellers
to collate it for myself.
So can someone help, what is the thread, and who is a good bookseller, probably UK, but does'nt have to be.
many thanks, john

I would agree with Midland Counties as a good source, if you are after older books try Brian Cocks near Peterborough, he advertises in Flypast I think, his stock is massive and his knowlege amazing.

'Must have'/ read books
Whatever collection you end up with, make sure it includes ' Test Pilots - the Story of British Test Flying 1903-84' by the late Don Middleton, Willow books ISBN 0-00-218098-7.

I have found The Aviation Bookshop in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, to be an excellent establishment for what you are after.
Their website is www.aviation-bookshop.com and the manager is Justin Sawyer.
I have absolutely no connection with them, merely a satisfied customer.

Aviation books
Thanks to those who posted responses.
I made my list of books to buy, there was no
bookseller with more than two books from my
list (which I found mainly from "a good read")
So it's back to Amazon, which I do regret as I'd like
to support the independents.

Give this a try, excellent shop with a good aviation section-great if you are looking for the Putnam series.

Here's a thread with some excellent titles.
There was once a bookshop near the Archway tube station - lots of pilots handbooks, as well as books, maps, etc.
