UK Airspace Sector maps
Hi folks, anyone know where I can lay my hands on an up to date-ish map showing the UK atc sectors like Brecon? etc. Just would be handy for slot avoidance and re-routes. I've checked the AIP and AIRAC and can't locate them anywhere, unless I've missed it......?

I don't think it would be that useful to you. It is primarily for the internal management of the whole London Area Control airspace system. Sectorisation allows a massive throughput of traffic with minimal co-ordination, sectors can be joined [or "bandboxed" as we say] or split in several combinations depending on traffic demand///availability of conditional routes///staff numbers..etc.
I applaud your thinking, but D-I-Y ATC is a non starter, we'll give you the best deal that we can. Come and plug in with us for a shift at Swanwick..you'll be very welcome.
Coffee-milk-sugar only 17p except on management top floor where it is only 16p [put in 20p get 4p change...I make £7.20p per year!!]
Unless you're asleep by now, here is an example:
At BCN airspace up to FL165 controlled by Cardiff//FL165 to FL265 by sector 23 [134.75]//FL265 to FL335 by sector 5 [133.6]//FL335 and above by sector 35 [135.255]. Strumble is sector 8 [129.375] which may be combined with sector 35 etc etc!......the permutations numerous.
Several procedures may seem restrictive to you, but the odd peculiar extended hold-down or early descent is to keep you out of a particular sector so that you don't need a sector slot......that slot has gone to another aircraft which would otherwise be delayed.

I know it's quite difficult to get hold of. Working in an ops office it would give me a better understanding of the areas I need to avoid when we get hit with slot restrictions and saves me bothering the flow managers desk at Swanick when it's busy. You know what it's like, rather than just doing it i'd rather know what im dealing with and crack on with it. I've already loaded the Standard Route Document onto the pc in our office which is bloody handy for last minute route planning and ad-hoc charter requests. A colleague of mine is visiting Swanick today and I've asked him to hunt around. I have visitied Swanick as a BA Citiexpress employee and been amazed but that was a while ago. In BA Connect we had all the gizmos but in little ol Air Southwest it's back to the maps and charts.
Maybe someone could think about widening the circulation to airline operations/flight planning departments as it would save a few phone calls and give us all a better grip????

I get the impression that they won't generally put non-NATS organisations on the distribution list...even though we're an ATC Unit dealing with 5 different sectors and two ATCCs on a daily basis!!
I was told recently the last lot I managed to purloin was a 'one off' and there might be a charge for any further ones. How much does sending a .pdf by email actually cost?

May not solve all your problems but Eurocontrol produce a series of large (1:3,000,000) "Central Flow Management Unit Charts (CFMU)" depicting sectorisation for both Upper and Lower airspace.
It does say on the legend however, that
"The sectors are shown for ATFM purposes and may not be as precise as the sector descriptions used by ATC."

Why don't you just make a request through the official channels? Or have you done so already with a negative response?
I can't see why an official request from an airline ops department would be turned down (unless you're asking here because it's for your own use and not Air Southwest)

Vectorline.....why on earth would you think I would use PPRUNE as my first resort, lol? It was my last after trying all other channels and getting nowhere. I now have a copy courtesy of an ATC colleague and it's on the wall in the office. END OF. Thanks for all the positive replies.
