Grenoble, France - A small tourist plane plunged into Lake Geneva on the border between France and Switzerland on Saturday afternoon, killing two people, one of them an 11-year-old boy, French rescue workers said.
Around 40 rescue workers were sent out to try and locate the plane, thought to have sunk 50m below the surface of the lake, to retrieve the boy's body, they said.
It was not immediately clear why the Swiss-registered plane nosedived into the lake, 200m from the French lakeside town of Saint-Gingolph, they said.
The 51-year-old pilot, who managed to extricate himself from the stricken craft, was being treated by rescue workers for shock. Plane plunges into Lake Geneva (http://www.news24.com/News24/World/News/0,,2-10-1462_1386786,00.html)
