Hi,

I was wondering what the rules were on Hoar Frost,

I was pax on a EMB 145 the other morning and I couldn't help noticing hoar frost on the wings, it peeled away on the take off run well before rotation,

it was just that I'm sure I remember reading something in my ATPL's about it not being a good idea...esp in a/c with the engines behind the eings,

anybody know anything??

If you saw it peel away than it wasn't a good thing.

Gazeem,
Hoar frost is generally acceptable on the fusalage but not on the wings (other than hoar frost to a dept of 3mm on the underside in the vicinity of the fuel tanks). The tops of the wings MUST be clear.

You could always contact CHIRP at Farnborough and inform them of what you saw and the Flight No, time and place.
