N Reg Aztec

Folks,

Does anyone know of an N-Reg aircraft available for hire in the South East UK? I normally fly an Aztec (as per the user name :yuk: ) but as it's in for maintenance I'm looking to get into the air another way!

I have an FAA Multi IR and would be interested in either Single or Multi machines - mainly for touring.

Any help or pointers appreciated.

Thanks,
N Reg.

I think I am right in saying that its a questionable area for an owner of an N reg to hire it out.

When I was looking for an aircraft I was strongly put off buying an N as I would be hiring it.

But there again I could be wrong!

You can rent out an N-reg in the UK under an arrangement called a "dry lease".

I don't have more details (fly a G-reg presently) but the N-reg registration agent who handles the reg for you should be able to supply a specimen document.

Probably the majority of N-reg planes here in the UK are owned by limited companies. This makes sense if you do business travel it in (even if you are the only pilot); on a private trip the ltd co. invoices you personally; on a business trip the ltd co. invoices your business (for various reasons it isn't a good idea to have the business which is your livelihood owning the plane directly) and if you rent it to somebody then the ltd co. invoices the renter.

All 100% above board... remember that with any "company asset" any private use must be fully reimbursed otherwise the Customs and the Revenue will be very interested :O

All this is standard stuff.

As to whether you actually want to rent out a half-decent plane... that's another matter!!! Those planes that get rented out to flying schools soon become junk and then they get worse from then on. Very few planes in good condition are available for rent to casual walk-ins.

N Reg Aztec,

I've just returned from a superb week's touring around France in a Cirrus SR20 (N-reg) rented from a friend at work. He rents it out in blocks of hours rather than just on a casual hour-by-hour basis though. PM me if you want details and I can put you in touch.
