I was flying from London Stansted to Dublin during the week on a Ryanair 737-800. The day had been quite wet but was beginning to dry up.
At about 8000 feet into the climb we passed through quite a heavy set of clouds. As I was turning away from looking out the window I saw a bright white flash and heard a small bang towards the front of the left wing.It was hard to tell where abouts on the wing this happened but looked to be at the wingtip.
I have never seen anything like this before.I thought about asking the cabin crew to ask the captain what it was but decided against it.Once we had landed I left the aircraft through the rear door and walked under the wing to have look. Everything seemed to be normal.
My best guess is that it was some kind of static discharge or even a bird coming to an abrupt end!
Anybody have any ideas?
