Apparently the Campaign against aviation has said that NATS can freeze its prices. Will this release more funds for investment or get NATS further into the DOO DOO with even more debt around our ears?

Would the pay rise have been pain if the CAA had said no?

Lots of questions with no easy answers.

Have a look at the CAA website it all appears to be there. The news release has a link to the more 'economic' documents.

It appears to not be a price freeze but more that NATS will not have to cut its fees as much as the original price cap demanded.

It's probably worth remembering that the UK already has amongst the highest charges within Europe anyway, so any lessening of the expected price reduction still maintains that inflated price.

Each country sets a 'basic charge' - so many Euros per 100 kilometres. The cheapest are Ireland and Cyprus at between € 20 and € 30 per 100KM, and the most expensive are the UK at € 85, Switzerland at € 86 and Belgium/Luxemburg at € 90 per 100KM.
