At risk of being accused of mentioning a commercial site, I want to share this. What the hell, the RAF has never knowingly made money, it just spends our taxes in a thoroughly useful and entertaining manner.

Like a few other people with a military background, I've always been a huge fan of the various RAF publications, especially the low level charts and Minor Airfields Guide (MAG).

I have just discovered (no idea how long they've been doing this) that the RAF (no doubt through some semi-commercial agency) has made these available to the rest of us, and they are also noticeably cheaper than the standard commercial guides [well, we've already paid most of it through our taxes no doubt].

They're online at http://www.aidu.co.uk/

I particularly recommend the MAG which doesn't cover anything like as many airfields as, say, Pooleys, but is in a much more user friendly format, uses colour coding, and also gives runway gradients (always, I've felt a significant omission from the commercial VFR guides).
