Let 41/420's in Africa

Hi all,

Operators with these aircraft in Africa, do you you know any ways of getting these aircraft on the Australian Register????
Big ask, I know.......

Curious to know what your operating costs per hour are?
Need 2 here in Australia and looking at ways to get them in and registered.
410 is a problem , 420 is a possibility, heard of one 420 that was operating here and was then sent to Africa.

Any info would certainly be appreciated.

Two years ago we did a comparative assessment of the Let vs the Caravan for Tourist Ops. In the end we went for the Caravan but it was a close thing.
One thing we did find was a HUGE variation in the specs of the Lets available in Africa, and the subsequent certification as to where they could operate in Africa and the rest of the world. It is a real minefield so be very careful.
However at that time there was a Gentleman in DCA (now CAA) Airworthy division (Joburg, South Africa) who was the Russian aircraft specialist. He had a vast range of information about all the Lets flying in Africa,from what they did before they arrived down to the tread on the tyres of the one parked at Lansaria!!. Cant remeber his name and dont know if he is still there, but if you can track him down he was really helpful.
Try sending an email to the Chief of CAA who is a Pprune member and watches this forum closely.

Think I am right in saying the L410-UVP-E version is both JAR and FAA certified and so is the L420 so if this is the case then I dont anticipate major probs from CASA...

Pls check on this...don't take it as gospel...
