I've seen twice in the last week two small private jets and a BAe 146 flying in close wingtip to wingtip formation over Watford and High Wycombe. Any idea what they're doing? Couldn't make out any names but they were painted in the same colour scheme of white with red tail fins. Very nice bit of flying.

As a BAe146 driver, the only 146s I know of operating around here with white fuselage with red tail are Royal Flight.

Yes, I saw them over Princes Risborough on 25 Jun. Couple of 125s and a 146, presumably rehearsing for a flypast or en route to or from one.

Actually, come to think of it there was some sort of flypast by Ark Royal during a Services bash for the Queen on the 27th (it sez 'ere in my paper).

Whow ! I'd pay good money to see the "ARK" do a fly past !

Yep ! sounds like the Royal Flight / 32 Sqd though. :) :)

When Betty visited Portsmouth last Thursday there was a flypast involving a few bits of hardware including a triple formation of a 146 and two Dominies (military HS125)

This would be the likely answer.

Silly expression, "private jets".

These ones were'nt of course, they were public ones.

Must go to work now in my private car...

Maninblack - be careful not to confuse the Dominie and the HS125. You are correct that the Domini is a military version of the HS125 - it is fitted out with kit to train Navs. However, 32 (The Royal) Sqn, based at RAF Northolt have a fleet of HS125s (NOT Dominies), which are fitted out as bizjets for VIP transport. They are painted in the same colour scheme as the 146's, the colour scheme of the Queens Flight.

What was seen many times over the past 6-8 weeks was three ac from 32 Sqn, who flew past in formation at several venues connected with the Jubilee.

FJJP, thanks for the pointer, I only saw them from around 1/2 a mile against a bright sky so the colour rendering left something to be desired. All I could say is that they were Chester's former finest of some ilk. I bow to your knowledge. :)

the dominie entered service in the mid 60s. it was the second type to carry the name. the previous was the rapide during the war. the 125 was originally marketed as the jet dragon rapide so the raf called it the domine. but dont call a 32 sqn 125 a dominie,it sends them mental!
