Spotted Martin Bloomer (before commissioning), Pete Tholen and Toby Craig. Do I get a prize?

"Are we wearing medals or not?"
"Not sure, mate"
"Oh, well, mine need cleaning ... "

Sure there is Nobby Clarke with his LSGM. :ok:
No GW1 awards in that lot, would have been New Years and general awards.

MPN11 "Are we wearing medals or not?"
"Not sure, mate"

No existing medals worn when new ones are being dished out, or else it would be a fiddle pinning the new one on. I assume that's the boss of the SAR flight in the centre, but he doesn't appear to have been given anything!

TTN ... No existing medals worn when new ones are being dished out. Yes, I've got the picture now. It was one of those PUTI moments - sorry, folks.

What is quite interesting is the general lack of ribbons already awarded on the recipients. Quite a contrast to the rows of ribbons on display in the current era.

When I was on 214 in the early 70's I had a single GSM (South Arabia) from my time in the regiment. Most blokes (including the boss) had nothing, and on "Number One" occasions people would sometimes ask me what the medal was for. Bit of a contrast with my son who came out of the army a couple of years ago with a group of seven medals, which as he said was nothing exceptional.

TTN - two squadron mates got an MC each for good work rocky side. One had one stripe, the other none. Not bad for STABs ;)

Seeing anyone without any ribbons who has served 10 to 15 years was rare when I left in 2009. I only got four in my time and taking off the long gong and Golden give away, got two ops medals. Many mates had a lot more.

Alber Ratman Ha ... 30 years and all I have to show is an AOC Air Cadets Commendation from before that started! :D

But I digress ...

MPN11 I managed two AOC No 1 Group commendations, so beat you on that score also. One at Colt as well! ;)

I digress further ...

Well the Staish is wearing his No: 1 - good on yu Martin.

I've seen awards being presented with the Staish or whoever wearing a grow bag. Just shows a lack of respect as far as I'm concerned.
