According to the Banbury Guardian, the pilot, age 70, was airlifted to the JR hospital with a broken leg. His passenger was checked over but not seriously hurt. The aircraft, upside down, is not easy to identify, but looks like a low wing Cherokee type. Winds were a bit strong today.

The airstrip is off the B4 Warwick Road, near Banbury.

It was G-COVB, Coventry based Cherokee I think.

asn thinks so, too, and has supportive images:

ASN Aircraft incident 23-FEB-2015 Piper PA-28-161 Warrior III G-COVB (http://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/wiki.php?id=174056)

Seeing the remains of the plane, they may thank their stars there was no fire.

Looks nasty, They are lucky to be alive. Did they hit the hedge or what? Hard to tell what has happened.

Glad there was no fatalities, looks a nasty crash. Wonder how that ended up right next to the runway, maybe a low wing drop which caused the flip as it’s tore the wings off.
