Best not to ask questions like this, why would anyone NEED to know?

there is a mechanical locking system that prevents the opening in flight - I believe the main doors are standard 'plug' doors. Check wiki/Google

Upper deck doors as I recall are locked...or at least the opening lever is. Lower deck plug type. (There is a weird and wonderful procedure for smoke removal that involves opening them in flight)

Why the interest in door mechanisms? You were asking similar questions about 777 door mechanism some time back?

Some time back indeed. If you are worried about ZF being a closet terrorist I must observe that he is taking his time as he has been with us on PPrune for over 12 years. A true 'sleeper'?

Six years since his query about 777 doors......he's slept in! No, just interested in his interest in door mechanisms.

From October:

I guess some are just fascinated with doors.

ZF may not be a sleeper but I doubt the wisdom of posting all this here and now. ISIL are quite sophisticated and shouldn't be spoon fed by Jammed Stab who should erase his 2 posts IMHO. Be careful - the only people who need to understand that stuff are qualified 747-400 aircrew - not the general public.:=

While I doubt the posted info is of any use to the bad guys, to make the previous poster more comfortable, I will delete it. Too bad. It is mostly stuff not in the manuals.

Thanks JS. You wrote some interesting info that I'd never seen before so maybe it could be distributed through the Fleet Office.

I m sorry to have generated such much suspicious !!!!!!
Let me re frase the question
Above which speed the mechanical interlock door Bar ( if any) automatically is inserted to prevent the total opening of the door in flight if necessary to evacuate the smoke if any ?
I read it somewhere 20 kts or I may have fabricate it into my ram memory....thank you BOAC for observing the facts..I appreciated and peacefully go back to sleep.

It sounds like one of the wrong answers to a multiple choice exam :}
