Just wondering if there is a way to create a fix way point. If you type in a waypoint that isn't in the data base and enter it into the flight plan the page comes up to create a waypoint. Lat/long PBD etc.
If you do a PPos hold is there any other way than freezing the IRS position, Writing it down and then creating a new waypoint from scratch. A previous type had a fix button, this stored the fix position then gave you the option to name it?
Thanks:confused:

Just select 1L (next to PPOS) then press HOLD? Works in our A320 FMS.

Same on ours, it will hold but there is no way to save into stored waypoints and use again or name it unless you freeze the IN position, write it down and type in the lat and long by creating a new waypoint?

Not like the good ol 777 ey :ok:

That's one thing it could do in only a few ( or more ) quick pushes....

Now I close my eyes and practice ( yeah yeah shut up:= ) it's 5 pushes in 5 seconds to complete with no writing down the Lat Lon.

Then input the required range ring and Bob's your uncle.

But the Airbus has a better FM I hear you scream..........sure it does:mad:

Damn Airbus range rings only go out to 200nm ( approx, can't remember the exact number ) on our new Aircraft, what's with that?

Yes, both have their benefits. Just wish they could get together and come up with what the aircrew want it to do rather than what IT experts or techies think we might want; or even put stuff in just because they can.
Would be nice if we could put in a fix and name though, doesn't seem a huge tech fix...is the intent there. Same as drawing Notam or TDAs from ATC you are trying to avoid unable to put a waypoint in the kit and draw a range ring from a radius around it. Hey Ho....just thought there was a way to do it I didn't know yet....
