Hi all,

I have about 47 hours of PPL flying under my belt from the U.K. I have until March to get my license. I am no longer living in the UK and wanted to go somewhere like south of Spian for a week or two and get it all done.

I contacted a few schools there (aerodynamics, panamedia etc.) but they said "changing a course record in the middle of the course if the school of the applicant is based outside Spanish frontiers (in other countries) is not accepted by EASA(Spanish Aviation Authorities)".

Is there any other sunny place I can go to or any other way I can get past this regulation?

"changing a course record in the middle of the course if the school of the applicant is based outside Spanish frontiers (in other countries) is not accepted by EASA(Spanish Aviation Authorities)".

EASA = European Aviation Safety Agency = Brussels Sprouts, not Spaniards

I suspect what they are really saying is "bugger off because we're not going to be able to make enough money off you"

Or, if one were to be kind and give them the benefit of the doubt, perhaps they're confusing themselves with the EASA requirement (FCL.025) that all exams must be taken in the same state, i.e. you might need to redo some of your theory exams you did in the UK if that particular rule still applies ... quite different to the people you spoke to trying to mandate "all training" though !

You could try Stuart at Cosmo Flight School - Home Page (http://www.cosmoflightschool.com/index.php)

They are based in Limoges in France. I haven't been or anything but i've heard very good things.

Have you tried Fly-in-Spain in Jerez? AFAIK, they kind of specialize in situations like yours.

AFAIK the Fly-in-Spain are good to deal with. As above I think they are supposed to cater for those looking to grab better weather abroad.

@mixture: Yeah, I suspected that...it did seem more like they are rejecting cause they wont make much money of me

@amblikai: is the weather good in that part of france?

I did try Fly-in-spain, emailed them but they were asking a advance payment which I have read all over PPrune not to do. So i replied them back saying that i wasnt comfortable in doing so and would prefer pay as you go...but they never got back...

I have no connection whatsoever with Fly-in-Spain, but as for the advance payment I'd say: it depends. If they want the full course down before you even come (which I would find VERY surprising), then I wouldn't do it, if it's a rolling couple of hundred on account to keep you flying once there, then I can't see an issue. If I was you, I'd call them. Email conversations are not the best form of comms in southern Spain......

Very surprised to hear that about FIS - I think it may be a misunderstanding.

Payment policy for the entire Training and Services

The first Payment will be your down-payment.

This will go to your "Training Account" and will be used for the first part of the service you will receive...

we donīt want a front up full payment!

than you can pay as you go.

There is only one restriction, your "Training Account" have to be always in positive, otherwise the training will be stopped!
