Hi Folks

Have not been able to contact BorderAir training in Carlisle. Anyone know if they are still operating there or completely moved to Cumbernauld?

As far as I'm aware there still operating, It could be that there's no one in the office today. I've heard that the Carlisle office doesn't open if there are no flights on that day, there could also just be one member of staff in who's up flying at the moment.

Thanks for the feedback . Been emailing them and website contact for a couple of days without response.

I'll keep trying then.

If you're wanting to learn to fly the school next door is pretty good (my own opinion), Carlisle Flight Training. I'm a little biased as I learnt to fly there but If you were to contact them I'm sure you would get a response.

Smells like a bit of stirring going on here. Border Air are very much alive and kicking at Carlisle (and on the day in question), Cumbernauld and Oban. The latter of which is highly successful due to the scenic air tours and now flight training. I'd say CFT have a lot to fear as their standard of aircraft and professionalism are no where near the high level at Border.

No stirring at my end TriBeCa,I'm just giving my opinion on CFT and I think there a decent outfit. I am more than satisfied with the training and standard CFT provided and I would recommend them to anyone, not that I'm saying Border is worse as I've not flown with them so I can't comment.

Yes CFT's aircraft may not have the same matching colour scheme but that doesn't make them any worse does it?

Thanks all for the feedback.

I'm inexperienced and was looking around to see what was available locally. I fount CFT but their prices are between £30 and £50 ph more expensive than the others I looked at (and higher landing charges) so unfortunately they are out of my current budget.

Sadly BorderAir have not responded to my comms, so cant really gauge the possibilities in terms of my training.

Glad that you've received a good service from CFT.

Makes them no worse at all. It's more about the rest of the machine!

Cheers

Liam, cant see how you can claim one school to be better when you have no experience of the other to allow an unbiased comparison.

I get my aircraft maintained by Borderair's engineering company. Cant speak highly enough of them. Always willing to take time our to discuss/explain things.

Unlike my previous maintainer who's vocabulary was limited to "bring it up and we'll take a look" followed by "your aircraft is ready". Any attempt to get more detail of the intervening period was usually met with a look of derision and the minimum number of grunts necessary for me to give up trying.
