I am not a helicopter pilot. However, I recently appealed my medical for a fixed wing licence..
The AMS said and I quote, "I've always maintained we should be harder on helicopter pilots...."
As a result I was denied my class 1 medical
Class 2
And LAPL.

The medics who were responsible are the top ( the top ) medics at the CAA yet they had no idea I was a fixed wing pilot! Basic stuff really eh? So what else have they got wrong as well as completely misunderstanding the issues regarding helicopter flying.

Medical guys at the CAA seem to have lost their edge regarding knowledge of the rotor wing world since Dr. Collins retired last year.
I was told late last year by them that the EC135 has "toe breaks" (their spelling not mine)
I have been waiting since last October for them to confirm ambiguous statements made in writing to me regarding Medical Flight Test requirements for type i am current and rated on.

What reason hasve they given you for refusal and what medical do you fly on as a fixed wing pilot?
