Anyone got any pics of the runway excursion today?

A van would make for an interesting site sitting there on its' nose :{

All those trips to Bathurst Island it did years ago? ;)

Coupla pics of NMV (blue) doing the rounds on facepalm and elsewhere, apparently happened at Elderslie. Story goes it ended up uncomfortably close to the fuel truck; fairly high on the list of undesireable objects to hit, I'd have thought?

I have the photo now, it ended up what looks like a few metres from the fuel truck, ouch!

If I was the refueller, I definitely would have jumped!

The tanker has quite a bit of long grass around it and appears to be not registered.......

When I was flying at Elderslie in 2000/2001 it wasn't registered then either.... and motivation for mowing the grass depended on how hard they'd been partying (which was usually pretty hard). :ok:

Doubt it's the same truck 14 years later, but.

Firstly I have never been into Elderslie and I was just wondering how does one manage to stick a C208 on it's nose so close to an obstacle (fuel truck in this case)? How far off the runway did it have to get to find itself in that position? I bet there is one pilot both cursing and counting his/her blessings at the same time!

wow, hopefully the pilot walked away..and the engine is ok. That excursion would not be cheap.

I reckon that it's just a minor towing incident. A caravan's become dislodged from its towing vehicle, following a minor jack knife. Maybe someone didn't hook up the safety chains and the drawbar jumped off the 50mm towball? :E

And how about the CRT television behind the pilot's seat?

That looks like a concrete drain under the nose does it not?

Bent prop blades=engine developing power.

Towing accident ?? Not quite....

It lost control / overrun on landing.

It looks like a hoarder has been living in that Caravan.

the same aircraft, did the same thing at warnervale the week before, though that time, it landed on the nosewheel first 3 times before finally getting it down. quite a few spectators yelling go-around after he passed the midpoint of the runway and still not had it on the deck

How does someone who flies like they end up behind the nosewheel of such an aircraft?

They landed long !

Brakes allegedly fading, not enough beta, the usual reasons that come up when someone stuffs up.

I really should recruit pilots from PPRuNe, nobody on here has ever had an accident or a f@ckup and by the tone, never will.

C'mon guys... ease up.

Rumour is that he is an experienced pilot on type and on PJE Ops, no longer doing it for a day job and now flying bigger things.

...poor bastard! :* :ouch:

Captain Nomad

and now flying bigger things.

I wonder if that was a contributing factor? It can be a significant adjustment for guys to come back and fly smaller things again... The old saying about human nature and flying machines, "You are only good at what you are doing at the time..."

Either way, you have to feel sorry for him. People don't climb out of bed in the morning planning to do things like this (99% of the time anyway...)!

Is this the same machine that was sat on it's bum after inappropriate use of Beta a few years ago?

I think Trojan is referring to the aerial conveyance as 'poor girl'! ;)

Indeed I was. :)

I know who this pilot was, just wondering about the aircraft.

In the defence of the pilot. I know him well and he is a very experienced and top notch operator with plenty of time on caravans, skydiving and overall experience. Some times sh!t happens
