I have just listened to a tape recording of an after dinner speech or live show by a very very witty comic who says he was an ATCO at Birmingham. Tape was first in circulation about 15-20 years ago and some of the jokes are about flying incidents in the Seventies.

Anyone know who this star is and what he is doing now? He would be an ideal after dinner speaker at a PPRuNe big bash.

cheers

His name is "Bunny" Gunston, now retired from ATC. He used to do after-dinner speeches as a sideline.

You can buy a copy from Transair pilot shops, on either CD or tape.

I dunno what the tape is called because it is a pirated copy (its a fair cop JPJ) but it is a recording at some sort of function or party. In one section of the tape he appears to be acting as a instructor for trainee 747 pilots and is talking them through ATC and flight deck procedures. Also many jokes about Concorde, 747 take offs from Birmingham, working at LATCC etc etc.

There'a terrific reference to the reason why Britain never built a military Concorde. Because it flies faster than a bullet an armed Conc was in danger of shooting itself down. ;-)

If there is another tape I'll snap it up immediately.
