Without wanting to speculate on the cause, having an incident after take off on 18 at Wellesbourne can't be fun. Having practised many EFATOs on that runway, I know you're not left with a whole lot of time to find a suitable spot to land in what with the woods on the hill directly to the south of the airfield.

One of my mates was the departure behind this one. Despite being behind him by only a couple of minutes he says it took 20 minutes to locate the crash site.
He says that the Mayday call described it as a total engine failure.
