Skydemon Android -Any users out there? how good is it?

Just wanted to know if anyone has any real practical Hands-on experience with skydemon Android? And perhaps can give there thoughts on its performance vs the iPad version?

I ask as i intend to purchase Skydemon pretty soon to help me with some international cross country navigation and as i do not own a tablet as of yet i am free to choose whichever is the best setup.

Skydemon tell me the Ipad mini is the ultimate tablet for the job but this was due to the size and ultimately i can imagine the android version will never beat the ipad for stability. however, issues i have with the mini is the price of the thing, being not much cheaper than the ipad 4 ! however the ipad4 looks a little too big for use in the cockpit.
My other issue with apple is the fact i am an Android man. I own a samsung galaxy s3 mobile and i strongly believe its a better os than apple. The restrictiveness of the apple os is irritating, i would much rather an Android tablet!

So the way i see it .. You cannot beat the reliability / stability of the ipad however i will have to put up with the horribly restrictive apple os and the high costs of the unit. Android is my preferred choice as they are more functional and cheaper however i don't have a clue what tablet device to go for and i am uncertain of the reliability/stability of Skydemon on this format.

So, can anyone give me some advice?

If you have a decent Android machine it is perfectly serviceable.

I use SkyDemon on an iPad 3 and Android phone.

SkyDemon is much better on an ipad than Android. It's faster, map scrolling is smoother and there are a few more SD features. But there are frequent updates so the differences may narrow over time.

On my HTC One phone, SkyDemon is fast, stable and perfectly usable in flight despite the small screen size (4.7" - the same as an S3).

The Android device you choose will be an important factor in how well SkyDemon works for you, as there are a lot of poor Android devices out there. Some Nexus 7 owners have reported issues with SD, but that seems to be a general device issue with lag. If you like Samsung devices, you could try one of their tablets. Give it a try on your S3 - that may even be good enough for you.

What do you fly? How and where you put the tablet in the aircraft will be important.

In summary: Perfectly usable, but not as smooth as an iPad. Then again, a Nexus 7 is at least 1/3 the price.

I am not an Apple fan, so I waited for the Android version. I run it on a 7" Galaxy Tab 2, and I have had no problems with it.

If I am concerned about battery life, I power the tab from a "mini-gorilla", (with the appropriate cable).

I mainly use it for planning on the ground and for backup in the air.

I have been using and iPad 2 running SD for the last year and have been happy with it, but I've just bought an Asus fonepad for £180 (having dipped my toe in the Android water by testing SD on my Galaxy S3). I'm intending to use the Asus as a pretty well dedicated SD tool.

The main reason for switching is because of the size of the unit......the fonepad seems smaller than the iPad mini and is a LOT smaller than the iPad 2 :), which is great in a restricted cockpit area.

I tried it in the air for the first time yesterday evening and it performed well, not as quick to load or redraw the charts as the iPad but perfectly serviceable.

Within a few months I wouldn't expect there to be a lot of difference between the iPad and the Android version of the software.

Use SD on the ipad 2 and have it installed on the galaxy s4 as a backup. very slow and hard to see on the phone, however there for an emergency, equally so is 121.500.

Android version is slowly catching up and the new ipad version released in the last couple of days now has support for powerflarm collision avoidance stuff which looks awsome.

Generally find android devices a bit rough round the edges, simple things like the smoothness of scroll just isnt there compared to the apple equivalent.

Brilliant software.
