I've just seen a yellow SAR Sea king on the Beeb, and it had "RAF RESCUE" in reverse writing on it's side - like an ambulance.

What would be the reason for this? Or had the Beeb reversed the picture?

If all the signage on the craft and rotational direction of rotors is reversed then the shot was reversed in the edit.

It is not uncommom to reverse (the popular expression is "flip") an image to maintain continuity of the flow of scenes.
In this case BBC may have needed a shot of the helicopter travelling left to right across the screen, didn't have one, so they flipped one that was shot travelling right to left, knowning its only Uplinker on Pprune who will notice.;)

Flipping is more noticible with cars and roads as the viewer can see the driver jump from right to left seat (in UK) and also the apparent change in positioning of vehicles from left to the right side of road.

Gentlemen of the media reverse photos all the time. Just look carefully.

and here I thought that it was because the other aircraft had rear view mirrors....:E

Why DO you guys still drive on the wrong side of the road? Tell me its not the knight/horseback/sword thing...

I still cant see shifting with the wrong hand...(sorry to the lefties, but really, that is wrong)

Why DO you guys still drive on the wrong side of the road?

Because even though most of the rest of the world drives on the right, we have still decided they're doing it wrong.

He made countries that he conquered "change over" so as to make it obvious by the sense of direction which "side" they were on. Given the raggedness of armies it worked. Mind you I think in France car engines are numbered from the flywheel end... and air-sea launches had "Navy" painted on the bottom in case they tipped over...

Back to filming. I've carried camera crews filming off the back ramp. They then run the footage backwards for final production so it looks like you are flying towards it.

Yeah, I thought it must have been a reversed shot - but I only glanced, and did not notice if all the writing was reversed.

Thanks.
