PPL flightplanning Q

Hi all,

Came across a PPL theory question which I can't get my head around and would appreciate some help:

Cessna 182: empty mass including oil and unusable fuel = 651 kp; Pilot and Co-Pilot = 152 kp; 2 passenger = 145 kp; luggage = 25 kp; Tank capacity = 42 US gal; MTOW = 2300 lb. How many gallons can be fuelled?

From what I understand a kp is a kilopond :confused: 1 kp = 1 kg?

The correct answer is 26 US gal but I cannot figure out why..

Imperial gallons compared to US gallons? Maybe have a look at that conversion if it wants the answer in imperial

add up all your weight in kgs. convert to lbs. divide that by the specific weight of avgas (approx 6.1) and you get your answer. simples!!

2140lbs is the weight of your loaded plane ( all weights added and divided by 2.2 to convert to lbs ) subtract MTOW by this weight to get fuel uplift allowed ( which will be in pounds ) divide by 6.1 to convert this to US gallons.

Many thanks for the help, I was familiar with litres to KG but not LBS to US gallons, the x 6.1 trick is useful thanks :ok:
