Hi. I have just done all 7 ground exams and want to get my skills test. My club thinks there is a new procedure for this - are they right? Also, the app form for PPL(A) looks different and the ground exam list looks different. Have I done the correct ground exams? Can you tell me how I find all teh answers to this please? Thanks

It's all in CAP804, but like me who is hard of understanding it does take few read throughs.
You say you have 'just done' all 7 exams, did you not have to do Air Law prior to solo (not mandatory but most clubs insist on it).
Hopefully your club and CFI will know what to do,it's their job.

I'm no expert, but having just taken my Air Law and speaking with our club's Ground Examiner, he said that yes, the application form has changed with EASA (so I ahd to fill out a new one) and ground examiners no longer have to sign and stamp your record. All tehy need to do is write the mark and date of teh exam on your record (barking eh?!) :rolleyes:
He also said that the papers are still the same thus far under EASA, so...... I'd check with your Ground examiner if I were you, but my understanding from ours is that there is no issue.
.....I am sure a ground examiner will be along soon to correct my thoughts...;)

The CAA has produced a new EASA PPL Application form SRG 1105 (http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/33/SRG1105AFFenabld.pdf) It is not a lot different from the old application form and the RF will be responsible for completion of the new form. There has been no change to the exams and in any event they would have to allow the old papers for a specified period. Whilst they announced new papers would be issued 2 years ago, nothing has happened and they have not notified any dates for changes.
I meant I had just finished the exams!
Well, the club faxed the form to the CAA on Wednesday and phoned me on Saturday with a date - this Friday! So clearly the old ground exams are still fine! But the CAA did set the date and if I can't do it this Friday because of weather,, I have top let the CAA change the date....
At least I didnt have a long wait for the test. Wonder if the licence will still take so long after passing. will let you know

Your post was not clear. The ground exams have nothing to do with the question!
Yes; there is a new procedure for the PPL Skill Test. The examiners used by the school must be notified to the CAA see IN-2012/156 (http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/33/srg_lts_Designation%20of%20Examiner%20for%20Skill%20Tests_v3 _Oct12.pdf) If the Examiner has not been notified to the CAA by the school then individual permission is required. It would have been much simpler for the school to have sent a list of PPL examiners they use to the CAA.
The CAA clerks have no comprehension of weather or any of the other variables involved. If the examiner is nominated, then so long as you do it with that examiner they will just have to learn the facts of life!
