Well lads. Just a quick question. i have a Irish class 1 medical. i changed from the IAA- CAA mid way through my ppl and I should be finished tommrow pending my flight test. What will I have to do with my medical ? will a re-val do or will I have to sit a UK medical ? I know its not a massive issue. there's just a few questions after popping up with easa :rolleyes:
You might find that its a massive issue, your examiner should check all your documents prior to the flight test, and under JAR's, your medical MUST be issued in the country of license issue.
Somebody might correct this regarding EASA, but i think thats even worse as we cant even do renewals outside the country of issue.
Why didnt your school tell you about this?

and under JAR's,JAA has gone, we are now into EASA. You need an EASA medical, is the IAA Class 1 medical not to EASA standard? if not you will need one that is. It can be completed in any EASA State.even worse as we cant even do renewals outside the country of issue.Of course you can.

I have no problem re doing another medical. I got a class 1 here in Dublin last year unrestricted etc. yea I was looking at the changes re state issue licence so medical must be of the same, but wasn't sure if they wear making allowances for cases like mine. I will see what happenes I'd imagine. My brother has a restricted class 2 CAA medical and he passes his skills last week. And so far it's all gone through

Assuming your IAA medical is a JAR medical it will automatically be considered an EASA medical & good for an EASA licence, but the authority that issues your licence should also hold your medical records.
Page 6 of this document (http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=2330&pagetype=90&pageid=13059) says that you can avoid retaking the medical by asking the IAA to send a copy to the CAA.
