Hello all,

Clearly there are a lot of B777 pilots in the Middle East, collectively flying all variants.

Following inconclusive searches of these forums, I'd like to know what the consensus is on the favourite variant to fly and for what reasons.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. :ok:

Thanks,

For me 777-200LR or F.

Go like stink.

An empty -200F is my fav. Short of a fighter, can't think of an aircraft that has that kind of performance.

The 200F. Good performer, .89, and no drama or issues on board.

200F for flying, for all the reasons previously spoken about, landing the 300ER because its the easiest, the 200F is a handful when its light, don't mention the 300:mad: when it comes to landing.

I'm flying -300ER, -200LR and -200F. My personal favorite is a heavy -300ER.
The most stable, easy to handle and land aircraft I've ever flown.
Cheers!

If your in the mood for fun, flying an empty B77F is absolute magic. Landing a heavy 777-300ER is nice too. Overall no matter which variant, it is a great plane to fly, I just wish they could build a nice seat for it.

I am surprised this thread has lasted so far without turning into an Airbus v Boeing clownfest :D

Thank you everyone for the input so far, I am interested in what others might have to say.

A small side note - I'm not interested in which make of airplane is the best and I'm not asking you to tell me. Please stay on track with this thread; what is your preferred B777 aircraft? I don't care how good your back feels from flying Airbuses...

Thank you in advance,

lucky they all have such strong wrists...

CURRENT A330-200 Driver, don't you have a Harley Davidson which goes against the fact that you dislike Boeing as it is American and "agricultural"? Talk about being hypocritical.
I see you have a nice roster of turn arounds again...! Good luck

B737-200, fully loaded(54t if i remember correctly), JT8D-9 engines(each developing 9k pounds of thrust)......Wheels off to TOC at FL 350......approx 5 mins before TOD on a 3 hour leg...

146-300, take off to TOD at MCT and never got above 230kts or 23,000 in two and half hours. Ha!

What do I win?

Not really just an old habit of starting the elapsed timer at the start of the take off roll. Must be left over from flying analogue jets in the past, that's one without an FMC for the uneducated. All I did was note the time at top of climb:ugh::ugh:

Ah, but Antman,

That implies you care about what you do and don't treat it with detached disdain, thus not qualifying you as one of the cool kids.

Hello, All !

The only 777 I know...
...is the -300ER "777 Boeing Trainer Heavy" Full Flight Sim !
I did really feel great and safe handling qualities, (like flying a big Global Express): simply Fan-tas-tic !
Now I long for flying the "Real One", which is not so easy to happen without a previous "on type" experience or until I find...
...an employer. (Let's cross fingers).

Meet you some day I hope,
Enjoy your flying(s), Be Happy !

Geezuz bragging about which airliner can climb-for-time is a bit like geeks bragging about who bagged the hotter fat chick. Sad. :{

Seriously nolimit? Aviation has to be one of the worst professions for people going out of their way to claim how little they care about it. I think it is a great thread.

To the chap talking about the 146 out of Muscat, I am guessing that was other AWC thing before you got the new one?

Also interested to see what max IAS you mob have achieved in civilian transport aircraft.

Not sure if they achieved it mate but back home had a B763 pilot tell me he could give me 360KIAS on the drop.

447 KIAS seems quite impressive:

This had peaked at 20,000 ft/min with the aircraft pitched 30° nose-down after the aircraft had been rolled to the left. The control forces remained high but the commander considered this to be due to the aircraft’s speed, which he observed at a maximum of 447 kt.

I think the record is probably held by Hoot Gibson in the TWA 727 though:

I flew a 737 with a bloke who once told me it is ok to fly 15kts greater than VMO if the air is clear, because Boeing design the plane with a huge tolerance, I am sure he would win this discussion!

@westausatc 360 KIAS on a 767 and the leading edges would start to glow! Did he work for QF or Air Bro?

ps. Are you from Perth? Good knowing a fellow Sandgroper is keeping us safe in DXB

Mr Good Cat,

I know the FO who was RHS on that 737 air test.

"Fcuking terrifying" was the summation.

Horrible for both of them.

A testament to the 737.

No damage to the aircraft even after all that punishment...!
