Hello,

I'm looking for advice on what sort of mount would be suitable for my camcorder. I'm wanting to make some flying vids from a C182.

I have a Panasonic SDR-SW20 which is about the length of a block of butter and half as thick.

Apologies of there's already a post dedicated to this but I couldn't see one. I'm not wanting to break the bank but any suggestions appreciated.

A very useful mount is the Gorillapod Video it can be fitted to all sorts of objects and doesn't constitute an aircraft modification.

You'd be better off having a look at Helmet cameras bullet cameras from dogcamsport (http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk)
They do self contained bullet cameras with a battery life of 1.5 hrs and up to 8 hours recording time.
These are circa £90 each and i believe they come with several types of mounts.

The answer depends on what sort of quality you are after.

If you don't mind a distorted image, with probably prop effects, then there are loads of "bullet" cameras out there, not to mention some larger ones.

If you want decent quality then you will be using a decent camera and it will need anti vibration mounting. In some cases just a simple mount will do but a very good mounting point is a window and they tend to vibrate due to the slipstream turbulence.

There are various professional solutions to this (do a google on antivibration camera mounts, etc). Most of them are not exactly compact. I constructed this (http://s101.photobucket.com/albums/m74/peterh337/antivibration%20mount/) which works superbly, for a forward-looking camera mount and with a mid-price camera (Canon Legria G10) with manual shutter control and shooting at 1/120 or slower produces great results.

The ''Go Pro'' is fantastic for most sports. The camera comes with a selection of mounts and more are available to purchase. It can take up to 2.5 hours in a 32gb card in HD - it's switch on and forget. Have a look at their website to see what it can do.
