? go around at LHR

[Airfield Totty]

A friend of mine has seen what he thought was a go around at LHR at about 6.30 this evening. He is wandering why. He wasn,t sure of Airline or a/c type due to poor vis. Any news would be appreciated if, of course there is any.

Go-arounds are fairly common. Can be the result of the runway not being vacated by the preceding aircraft as quickly as the (most excellent) controllers would expect.

No drama, just SOP.

I recall coming into LHR with BM on one occasion when we had to go around - the pilot announced that it was the second time it had happened to him that day, both times because a nigel was ambling down the runway instead of the taxiway (he said it rather differently, that was just the gist!) ;)
