Hi Folks...new member here (first post). Just heard that American Trans Air is not going to be operating the charter flights from MAN and LGW to Florida (SFB) this year. Anybody know which charter operator will be doing the flying??? I think the tour operator was Transatlantic Vacations. My apologies if this has already been discussed...I couldn't find it anywhere on the boards.. .Cheers

Believe this to be true, as Sept 11 and other events caused that biz to be lost, but ATA has picked up additional charter contracts with Funjet and other operators thru 2003.

Nothing to do with September 11th actually. In fact, this operation is picking up even more business from this summer.. .. .But it will not be ATA will not be flying to Sanford from the UK . . . but the route will still be flown.. .. .The reason is that Travel City Direct, who is the holiday operator (and who sells all the seats!) have made a contract with European Air Charter (EAAC) to use some (two, I believe) of their five very nice new ( . . . old, ex-BA) 747-200s for this route and so they will be at Gatwick, Manchester, and Prestwick (perhaps others, I can't remember !) going into and out of Orlando Sanford.. .. .ATA has a rather nice government contract to fulfill so they are not leaving empty handed in any case.. .. .Hope that helps,. .. .SFly . . . . [ 06 March 2002, 19:28: Message edited by: SFly ]
