Don't know if this question is in the right place, but what is a good way to get into the management aspect of the airline business? Is this at all possible without an MBA?

Seems to be no trouble in the UK - there are NO minimum qualifications for any level of airline management.. .. .(It seems that coming from abroad helps a lot - you might be OK!).. .. .Quite a lot of people work their way up from 'the bottom', whether they start in Ops, Engineering, as pilots, or whatever.. .. .Many of the necessary skills are specialised, some are unique, and it's probably true that most can be learnt on the job by the right person.

Best way is to start at the bottom, gain company experiance and work your way up... .. .From my experiance there are too many people in front of you that are capable and worthy of that first management position to just step straight in at a senior level and most Uk airlines i've worked for like to promote from within..

Thanks for the reply guys. I have also heard from some fellow pilots that they worked for the company in some administrative/management capacity while building up their hours and getting their licenses, and after completion they were given the first call for interviews. THey said something about it being accomodated as an internal transfer and that your chances are far better this way.. .. .Any truth to this? . .. .Also Northern Sky you mentioned in your post that it helps if you are from abroad? Is this because you will probably be bi-lingual?

Australian and English spoken and having messed up two good airlines and destroyed their pilots terms and conditions helps as they hope you can do it three in a row in the uk.
