Cherbourg Instrument Approach Plates

Hi all
Please can I call on you for some help? I urgently need to print off the instrument approach plates for Cherbourg (LFRC) for the ILS and NDB procedures. I was given this link:

but unless I am being incredibly dense, I can't find the plates I am looking for.:ugh:

Out of interest, is there an easier way of finding the LFRC charts rather than scrolling through all of the LF series until you get to 'RC'? I found it rather a non-intuitive website, but maybe that's because I'm quite new to all of this!

Why don't you just type CHERBOURG into the name box and select the one you want? Or LFRC into the Par code OACI box? Hit OK and you get a list of charts to download.

Not too onerous, and no registration required.

There is also an English version of the website.

What tractorboy said (although you do need to register I think, it's free and instantaneous.)

Although yes, I have seen better constructed websites in my time. On the other hand, it gives you nav data for all of Europe for free, so we shouldn't complain too loudly.

Thanks Tractorboy, but I did try that already without success. I could only get the VFR charts, not the ILS and NDB plates. However, after registering as Genghis suggested, the links worked like a charm. No, I don't understand it either.:ugh:

Type "Cherbourg " in the search box and select "Cherbourg Maupertus"

On the next page select "IAC" and then scroll down until find the IAP after the airport layout.

Works for all other French airports with approach procedures too.

or you could go here (http://www.gcap.co.uk) and get the Cherbourg plates specially designed for single pilot IFR operations, at very low cost.

Not wishing to be too cheeky but for anyone flying IAPs in Europe I would imagine the AIP for the country would be the first port of call - I find it strange why people wouldnt look there.

That's not strange, and the answer is easy - many people flying IFR in Europe are crossing borders. If they are like me, they even file alternates in a different country to the primary destination. Trawling through several national AIP's is far too difficult. Fortunately, Eurocontrol and the national bodies all agree with me on that one, which is why they now run a pan-European database that consolidates all the national AIP pages in a single common web site -and that is the link Genghis quoted.

Per-country AIP's are still published for legacy reasons on some national web sites, but that is no longer the preferred route for accessing them.
