Hi, I am a student at Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. I am taking a research class and my first project is to find a list of the female commercial pilots in the United States. I don't even know where to begin to look. I would appreciate any help that anyone can give me. Thank you!

Tina

It may seem obvious but how about contacting the FAA. I'm sure they have lists they might send out. I do know they have been selling off mailing lists lately, They asked permission so not all may be available. There are also women pilot groups, like the 99's and a woman pilots magazine. They must have a database of sorts. Aviation magazine often have advertisements for women pilots organisations, particularly FLYING. Try that.

Also bear in mind just because a woman or anyone has an American Licence doesn't mean they actually live in or come from the United States.

You might start first by defining exactly what you are researching...

Are you looking for any female with a Commercial Pilot Certificate (that's what they're called in the USA, although certificates are commonly referred to as licenses)?

Or do you want to find females who are working as Commercial pilots?

Or just ladies who are flying for the majors?

How about a woman who has an ATP? Would you consider her a "Commercial" pilot or an "Airline Transport Pilot"?

Try Landings.com or call AOPA.

Yip there.

Try www.landings.com (http://www.landings.com) and you can do a search on all licencensed pilots. Also www.faa.gov (http://www.faa.gov) as well as www.aopa.org (http://www.aopa.org) should provide some help.
