Anyone for a group excursion?
Well, I made a fly-in at Cannakale (Turkey) in 2009 where you had to read out a 4-digit code on the way in otherwise you would be fired at ;) so China should be easy.
Just got to arrange some avgas in, what, about five places on the way there :)
The worst bit is that you have to fly all the way back afterwards :)

They almost certainly mean business GA, not light aircraft. If they did, getting to Beijing would virtually be out of the question because the:
''......summit, sponsored by AOPA-China, will include government and military officials discussing the incremental relaxation of the almost prohibitive regulations that currently restrict private aviation''.
....which will prevent anyone getting to the fly in in the first place!
Light aircraft GA does exsit - there have been a few microlights built and flown, but usually as university projects with official support. The big obstacle is the military who control all the airspace and who are deeply suspicious of everything. The infrastructure is there as there are lots of well equipped airports (albeit quite far apart - the country is huge) and AVGAS is widely available.
If a light aircraft fly-in does happen, it would be a fantastic destination and the participants could expect a lot of (organised) hospitality. But expect a lot of restrictions, bueraucracy and poor weather. Vis is famously bad in China and there's lots of terrain to deal with. IFR and instrument ratings will probably be a neccessity.
