I don't know if this is best posted here or in the military forum, but here goes. . .We all know that the military fast jets are not, usually allowed to go supersonic, but what would be the effects of a fast jet going supersonic at the usual military hight (say below 500 feet). I've had various answers from different people, the answers varying from "Oh it will just rattle a few windows" to "it will smash all the windows within a two mile path of itself".

Once, a long long time ago in a faraway place,. .me and a mate, who is now deceased in a flying. .accident, went supersonic at 250 feet and destroyed a house that was being rebuilt.

Not big, not clever, horrid error. And only. .funny when we knew that nobody was hurt.

Older and wiser now, lot of the former a bit. .of the latter.

An acquaintance of mine who used to live in a densely wooded Devon valley was once overflown by an aircraft flying supersonic.

Most of the windows in the house were blown out and her cat was never the same again.

Another reson why I'm slightly interested (although I don't know where the person who told me found out the information) is the new Eurofighter Typhoon. Apparently it's able to go supersonic just by putting it's nose down by about 10 degrees (without afterburn)..... could be interesting when it comes into squadron service, especially if you are unlucky enough to live by their home base.
