Could someone recommend an electronic flying logbook? I know there are a few on the market and would appreciate any comments from anyone who has used one.

Are you asking about an electronic logbook to replace your paper one? If so, can't help.

But if you are asking for an electronic copy of your logbook in case your paper one is lost/stolen I can recommend www.e-logbooks.co.uk. (http://www.e-logbooks.co.uk.) The site is free. I am happier now that I have a second copy of my log book, you never know when it will be needed.

(PS I have no links with e-logbooks apart from thinking it is a good idea)

www.skylog.co.uk (http://www.skylog.co.uk) CAA accepted. I use it-saves all the adding up and being a database it lets you select any totals you like. Try the website - worth every penny

A VERY good alternative to Skylog. It doesn't cost £50... in fact, it's free!

Seems to be ok when I just tried it. Have been using it for about 6 months to store my log book, never had any access porblems.

Try again....

Certainly reckon that it's worth backing up the old hard copy logbook with a PC logbook. Helps out with such things as job and licence application forms as well, like when you get one of those awful forms to fill out with a couple of dozen different categories to sort out - have you seen the EasyJet and Virgin online appn forms ! ?
www.pcbarrett.btinternet.co.uk (http://www.pcbarrett.btinternet.co.uk) looks pretty good.
BTW I don't think the CAA approve any logbook programs, it's just that some of them can produce CAA approved formats like in CAP 407.

You used to be able to get to it through e-logbooks.co.uk, but it seems that the site designer/producer/programmer (it's a one-man band effort- just something he does in his spare time from what I understand) has decided to ditch e-logbooks. But the hosting's the same, so that's why the link I posted seems to work.

Thanks for the replies. I've settled on FlightLog 2000 from www.pcbarrett.btinternet.co.uk (http://www.pcbarrett.btinternet.co.uk) as recommended by Red Eyed Dog. It's an excellent piece of software. It even works out the proportions of night & day flying once you've input the time & place of departure & arrival.
Highly recommended.
