Hi all

I intend to go to US and I got only a swiss JAR-license and not the good old national ICAO paper. Does anyone know if the FAA validates JAR-PPL licnses? I know that they make difficulties with CPL and ATPL but how about the PPL?

An FAA validation of your JAA license is easy, just go with your JAA license, log book and medical to the FAA FSDO (you didn't say where you are going so I can't tell you where the local office is) fill out a Form and in about an hour, you will have an FAA validation for no money and valid for life providing that you keep your JAA license valid.

Happy flying!!

Thanks Sensible

I'll go to Meritt Island, think the next FAA office is at Orlando. To find the office and the validation procedure shouldn't be a problem but I'm afraid to be harassed because of some disputes between JAA and FAA.

Your licence and medical must be in English. If not then you must provide an English translation, certified by an official in your own authority.

The address of the Orlando office is;
5950, Hazeltine National Drive, Citadel International, Suite 500, Orlando, Florida, 32822-5023

And they are extremely helpful, with their own website at http://www.faa.gov/fsdo/orl/fsdoofic.htm but the directions are rubbish: just look for the right office block according to the photo as there are three in the same style within 50m of each other. Free car park at rear: not within walking distance of airport though.
