hi guys if I lost an engine and the autothrust for example, and therefore CAT2 showing on the FMA, can I autoland (being visual at the applicable minima of course) ?
thanks

read the books (limitations). yes, you can

yes it was just to confirm, from the books it says you can but it sounded strange to me being with manual thrust and autoland, and never had it in the sim so far..thanks for the (kind!) answer though:ok:

After an engine failure and no other non-related additional failure, you'll still get cat 3 single on the FMA!!! (ref FCOM 3.02.70 p15)

But a cat 2 indication on the FMA is all you need to be allowed to perform an autoland after an app to cat 2 minima.

You are not with manual thrust in case of an EO , unless you disconect the A/THR and just ih this case you are of course not allowed to autoland.

Cat 11 autolands are allowed with manual thrust.

ok just to make it clear, i specified engine out AND manual thrust (let's say i had EIU failure + engine flame out afterwards).
got it, i can do it. thanx all

BTW you CAN do AUTOLAND even with CAT I, but that's another story.

You can do EO Cat II autolands with manual thrust.

A CAT II approach with a MANUAL landing (AP off by 80ft)
increases your x/wind limit by 3 knots.

You are confusing everything. You can do CAT II app without A/THR , but you can not Autoland .

You can do a CAT 2 , but on an Autoland. Without A/THR you have to turn the AP OFF at minimums or higher and land manually.

Mmh, You've got me doubting there. I've checked my company's FCOM 3 and 4 + qrh. I can't find a reason why I couldn't autoland cat II without the A/THR.

Simply use the thrust levers to keep the speed, let the A/P take care of flare + roll-out and retard the levers when you hear "retard"!

I think Slasher's statement that you can do (EO) Cat II autolands with manual thrust was correct!

Just a guess here, but often different companies have different rules about what you can and can not do. They can not be less restrictive than the manufacturer, but they can be more so.

Stab in the dark, but maybe A3 twenty is based in the USA. I have vague recollections that on my previous type we were not allowed to auto land without auto thrust in the US.

nothing in limitations. As per Airbus you can do it.

A 3Twenty,, I really don't think I am confusing everything! of course you can autoland Cat 11 with manual thrust..why not?

A-3TWENTY,

According to the manufacturer you can perform an autoland in this condition. You probably have more restrictive SOPs in your company as someone else already said.

cheers.

Ops data in QRH gives the answer. Page 5.04 (a330 but should be the same for the 320) = Required equipment for CAT 2 and CAT 3.

NO A/THR REQUIRED.

Don't get confused with AUTOLAND and approach categories/capability...
