Fighter Escort / Interception Practice

How often are you people intercepted or escorted by military jets?. Are you informed that this is going to happen?
Back in '87 just after dawn, north of Lake Aral ( I always look for it ) a fellow passenger said to me "You should have been looking out the other side, a couple of "Migs" were sitting on the wing tip for about 20 minutes just now".
Well it was the cold war days so I just assumed it to be a normal occurrence to expected on that route. However the other day whilst chatting to one of you professionals a similar fairly recent incident was mentioned. So obviously the game still continues.

I vaguely recall that there used to be an R/T phrase, "embellish" I think it was, which was something to do with practice interceptions in the UK. I'm not sure whether it was used by the controller to ask the pilot, or by the pilot to offer his aircraft to the controller for a practice intercept - perhaps some ex cold-war RAF pilots/controllers can help me out here? I guess these days there's not the urgency for practice intercepts any more since the iron curtain fell. In any event, from what ex-RAF pilots tell me I believe there's only about three or four aeroplanes serviceable in the RAF at any given moment anyway!

About to say the same...I was led to believe that if you write in your flight plan RMK-Embellish then you may be practice intercepted within the UKADIZ...
