What is the legality of a non-reducing bond.

I might have to pay 10K+ if i leave my company after completing 3/4 of my bonding period.

I appreciate the concept of bonds and have no problems with a reducing bond but my contract is ridiculous. I was leaving the RAF and had to take the job (mortgage/kids) so I really had no option.

Does anyone know of a decent employment law expert from whom I can seek some preliminary advice? I am not in BALPA/IPA so that road isn't open.

Thanks

The Law society should be able to point you in the direction you seek.

I am not an expert in this field but I thought that if two parties freely enter into a contract that doesn't violate any statute then it is perfectly legal.

If you wish to discharge your obligations under the contract you signed, why not do the honourable thing and pay up, or indeed attempt to negotiate a more favourable ending.

A lot of us have mortgages and kids and still choose to only enter into contracts that we are happy with, and avoid those we aren't. I guess you have been offered something better and good luck with it.
