I'm living in Brisbane and my JAA-PPL SEP (Land) rating is about to expire.

Does anyone know of a JAA instructor in QLD who could do the 1 hour flight required?

Interesting question gowest......

Wonder if it HAS TO BE a JAA qualified instructor....perhaps you should check this with your licencing authority (which I assume is CAA?)....or maybe they told you already that it had to be...

See LASORS2010 Section F page 11:

*The instructor must be authorised in accordance with
JAR-FCL to instruct for the JAR-FCL TMG or SEP(Land)
rating as appropriate. UK QSP only may undertake the
instructional flight with a UK Military instructor. This
training flight may be replaced by any other aeroplane
proficiency check or skill test for an instrument, class or
type rating (as defined by JAR-FCL) with a JAA qualified
Examiner, or by a flight test for the issue/revalidation or
renewal of a UK IMC rating.

So yes, a 'JAA' instructor is indeed required.

Try WAAC at Jandacot or OAA at Moorabbin. Neither exactly on the doorstep but I think the only JAA training organisations in the country
