ATR 72's

Average 300kg per hour per engine - 600/hour
Tas anything fron 250 to 300kts

DH8-400:
at FL250 (max. certified FL) and max. cruise power approx. 1250 lbs/h/engine; TAS around 350kts.

DH8-300, same conditions: around 570 lbs/h/engine ; TAS approx. 240kts. It is worth noting however that on the -300 the maximum cruise power was reduced by up to 5% torque to keep the ITT below 700°c for engine lifetime reasons; this made TAS and fuel flow vary obviously. Also, due to the rather slow speed of this craft, it was sometimes necessary to stay around FL180 to keep out of strong headwinds and have a chance to keep the schedule; this of course resulted in an increased fuel flow as well.

Just to be pedantic.
The Dash 8-Q400 is certified to FL 270 but most operators did not have the drop out oxygen system fitted, thus limiting them to FL 250.
SAS had the drop out system.

Dixi188 - thank You for pointing that out; my experience is limited to the aircraft operated in my company that as You say did not buy the drop-down masks.

Thanks folks.....

"at FL250 (max. certified FL) and max. cruise power approx. 1250lbs/h/engine; TAS around 350kts."

Thats impressive!

"Average 300kg per hour per engine - Tas anything fron 250 to 300kts"

Thats a pretty wide range.... whats the variable?

Appreciate all the help btw

Dhc8-Q400- SAS do not have the Drop down O2 system, some authorities allow FL270 not FL250.

The Q400 at ISA temp will cruise at 340-350TAS (235KIAS) and MRC with about 550kg/h but you can get under 400kg/h with slightly reduced cruise of 210ktsKIAS which makes it far more economical for a 2-3 minute penalty on 1 hour sectors. With a large flat rating on the engines it also climbs like the proverbial home sick angel up to FL250 which makes it virtually unique in 70-75 seat class turboprops.

Plus it can descend in TMA airspace at 270kts KIAS once below FL200 makes it fit in more in terminal areas with the big boys. Priceless at CDG!

Reckon real world on 900-1000kg total for a 1 hour sector with 56 minute airborne times.

Can't comment on ATR or Q300.
