Hi guys,

Am taking delivery of a DA40NG but as a new aircraft owner am a bit lost on the insurance options so thought I would seek advice.

Can anyone advise me on what is best with regards to Liability insurance. What should I look at? Combined Single Limit Cover? 3rd party liability insurance? Passenger Liability insurance? What is required and what is unnecessary? What about Agreed Value insurance and deductible?

Other than the above questions, what do you guys generally look for? What MUST be covered and what can be left out?

A/C will be privately operated and owned by two experienced pilots but inexperienced an owner.

Cheers Guys

I have no idea which aircraft insurers operate in Malta, but you could try UK's most common insurer which is Haywards Aviation Insurance.

To fly in the EU you need a certain minimum level of 3rd party insurance.

Hull cover is optional, and will make up the bulk of the premium on a new aircraft. I pay £2900/year for a £195k agreed value, and about 2/3 of that premium is the hull value cover.

Hey,

Thanks for your response. We just got a quote that was quite frankly extortionate. 10,000 euros with tax. Any tips on reducing the premium? We stupidly asked for a quote based on the cost of the ac list price but we had a large discount. Will start by going with the actual price, if not a little less of the total cost.

Any advice would be listened to ;-)

Best Regards
