What are the procedures for getting duty free avgas in France if flying out of that country. Is it normal for airports to sell the avgas duty free in those circumstances? If so, what documentation do they look for to satisfy themselves that the flight will be leaving France? Alternatively do they charge the duty and then leave it to the pilot to clawback the duty subsequently? If so, what are the procedures?

In probably all of Europe (except the UK) you can get duty free fuel at the pump on production of an AOC.

One used to be able to do it in Spain on production of any evidence of a business flight (e.g. a fuel card in the name of a ltd co.) but that seems to have stopped.

The only country apart from the UK which is believed to do a duty drawback is Italy but nobody I know knows how to claim it, and knowing Italy it probably is about 25 forms :)

If the flight is on the business of a VAT registered company or individual, that body can reclaim any VAT charged. That bit is quite simple.
