Lake district airfields

Does anyone know where abouts i'n the lake district I can land for the night i'n a 152?? I will be coming i'n from the sheffield area. The only place I can find is Carlisle. I'm hoping that there are some private strips I can contact that will allow me i'n? The trip is planned for friday weather dependant.

A nice field, apparently, and even the website isn't that bad. Just have to hope the spelling police don't come along in force.

I've heard the meat bombers at Cark are friendly to visitors. Tarmac reputedly no longer pristine.

I believe you can land on the lakes (for which you'll want to be wearing floats of course), provided you shut down the engine before touching the water.

You might however find it tricky to take off again, given the four mph (or whatever it is) speed limit for motorised craft.

Thanks guys. All planned for friday. I cant seem to get in touch with the hotel based on site, the number just rings and rings. Fingers crossed for good viz and high cloud base for the 3500ft hop over the lumpy things.

This will be my first long trip post ppl so if you have any advice/input re the route or anything else feel free...

Route-
Netherthorpe airfield - pole hill vor - dean cross vor - kirkbride airfield
This route will keep me away from controlled airspace and fly directly over Windermere which is the aim of the trip!

Massively late reply. I did the trip and all was well. When i arrive late evening there wasn't anyone around apart from an arriving pa28 from the blackpool area. The next day there were a few gyro's around and i managed to speak to a few guys there. Paid my landing fee £5 i think it was and then started up and off to Carlisle airport for fuel !!

The 152 i hired was ridiculously slow. 65kts indicated @ 7000.
It seemed to take forever to get there !

Kirkbride:- Only £10 and £15, but what is the justification for charging a landing fee 50% more expensive for a light helicopter than a Group A aircraft? Is that just a means to keep helicopters out? Surely the maintenance costs for the airfield associated with Group A aircraft is higher; should this charging differential not be the other way around?
