I obtained my NPPL SSEA on 5/3/2009 and have just realised that it is due for revalidation.

Although I meet:

(a) within the period of validity of the rating have flown as pilot: • at least 12 hours flight time including 8 hours PIC.
• at least 12 take-offs and landings.
• at least 1 hour of flight training with an instructor.
(the flight training was night flying, so not really relative to the SSEA)

I do not meet:
b) Within the 12 months preceding the expiry date of the rating, have flown as pilot: • at least 6 hours flight time.

Does "pilot" in this context mean PIC? I have done in excess of 6 hours as PUT during the last 12 month, while getting an FAA PPL. Only 1.7 hours PIC time though.

Do I now have to do a GFT to get a revalidation?

If you have logged the 6 hours of flight time be-it PIC or Dual it is 6 hours of flight time and counts so long as you meet the other requirements. You must get it revalidated before the expiry date (Saturday) or you will then have to undergo a GST to get it back.

Thanks Whopity. That is good news indeed.
