A question from one of your SLF :
What's Lasham used for ?
There I was driving through rural Hants, only to come across what looked like Alton International Airport ! Pardon my ignorance, but I'd love to know.

I believ that there is still a very active gliding operation there, possibly some maintenance, ( just in case you didnt know it was Dan Airs Maintenance base many moons ago), and I think that they still accept G/A when gliding is not going on.
Unless someone else knows different!

It wasn't me.

We sometimes take our 727 there for B and C checks.

All is revealed on ATC's website (I don't think this is advertising since I have no connection to them)

Lasham is regarded as one of, if not the best Gliding clubs in the uk. They are highly respected as instructors, and they hold major and world championships there. I have no connection whatsoever with the club, I fly from Goodwood in something with an engine.
try www.lasham.org.uk (http://www.lasham.org.uk)

The problem with Lasham is the name of the company that runs the airfield.
ATC.
So I ring Lasham with an inbound estimate, the joker on the phone answers 'ATC Lasham' - I pass the estimate etc - he then tells me he's the security man. Mad or what - well at least very frustrating ....
