I've recently seen on the 747-400 flight deck, there is behind the first officer, a maintenance panel, what does this do, and who operates it?
If by "maintenance panel" you mean a slot for a 3.5 inch floppy disc, that's it. Oh, and a map light switch, sometimes we let the cabin crew operate that in flight.
There is no maintenance panel behind the FO, only a library cupboard and a bunch of circuit breakers below. Is that what you mean?
