A couple of months ago I heard rumours that a new airline was forming to operate ACMI leases operating out of Shannon Ireland (Apparantly there are good tax breaks if you base your company there) and that they were negotiating to buy all of Deltas Tristars as a job lot. Is this yet another "phantom"/paper airline or is there some truth/money behind it???

Not sure about your airline, but I can testify that Delta has sold most of our Tri-Stars to a company in Europe.

A move we are slowly coming to regret. The 764's (Our L10 replacement) are by far the worst thing Boeing has coughed up in a long time.

When we say farewell to the L10 on July 31, we will no longer fly non-stop from Atlanta to the Hawaian Islands. All the 764's have to stop in LA due to performance issues.

And with the impending summer season looming in Atlanta some of the 764 drivers are wondering if we'll even make it to LA from ATL!!!

Wow Former_SLUF_Driver, that's shocking to hear! Isn't a 763ER able to do it non-stop?

The 763 can make it non-stop and the 764 can as well, it’s just under powered for it’s size and as a by product Delta is still a little bit apprehensive about placing it on the ATL-HNL sector non-stop.

Originally Delta had drawn up plans to use the 763’s in the off peak season and the 772’s during peak season if the 764’s didn’t work out.

According to the scuttlebutt in the crew room Boeing is evaluating new power plants for the 764’s.

Just a bit of sarcasm chaps…
