Why are threads closed? I particulary like the Ronchonner threads, are we not allowed freedom of speach? Just interested...

Threads are closed for any number of reasons :

Usually they are closed because the topic has been transferred to another forum. This may be done at the request of the originator or at the discretion of a forum moderator or Administrator.

Sometimes they are closed because they have degenerated into something significantly less than was intended by the topic poster. On occaisions the thread ceases to conform with the bulletin board rules.

Some threads are closed because the topic is being discussed in a separate thread. Sometimes posters place the same topic in multiple forums when this is unnecessary.

Even when a thread is closed, it usually has the potential to be re-opened if if this is deemed to be appropriate.

Freedom of speech can be a contentious subject. Everybody is "pro" freedom of speech, unless it is being used to abuse them. For that reason it needs to be moderated just as it is in almost all forms of media. Sometimes people feel that amounts to unreasonable censorship and others believe it doesn't always go far enough, again it just depends on your point of view.

For those (very few) people who feel that free speech is being stifled on this site, they have the right to utilize any other medium of their choosing to rectify that shortfall. If they own that media they accept the possible repercussions. If they do not they are expected to comply with its rules.

One has to find the boundaries, I have taken off my shoes and I am wearing my humble slippers.
