NO I DO NOT MEAN LITTLE GREEN MEN IN FLYING SAUCERS! :)

I was wondering have any pilots here experienced with Inidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) which you felt endangered your aircraft or destracted your concentration.

According to a report 'Aviation Safety in America-A previously Neglected Factor' authored by a retired senior aerospace scientist from NASA these incidents may be more widespread than previously thought but go unreported due to denial, fear of ridicule or concern about career repercussions. Yet study points out that the 'psychological negative feedback system' prevents scientists and aviation safety professionals from obtaining valuable data from pilots and crew.

Reports from pilots of these UAP's include descriptions of a range of geometric forms in varying colours and lights that rae inconsistent with known aircraft or natural phenomena. Pilots & crew reported that the objects approached and paced their aircraft at relatively near distances. Some encounters disabled pilots instrumentation. Others involve speeding objects narrowly avoiding a head-on collision by a sudden, abrupt turn. Some pilots have made sudden evasive changes in their fligt path due to the apparent objects proximity or dynamic behaviour. In a handful of incidents pax were thrown from there seats or injured. UAP's have also disabled aircrft navogation, guidance and flight control systems, sending compasses spining or disabling circuit breakers with powerful electromagnetic fields. Yet the instruments always function normally afer the UAP departs.

Cockpit distraction is a concern. An ex FAA ATC specialist believes that air safety orgs should pay attention to pilot reports and that ATC should be alerted. Pilots are not trained to handle an encounter with a UFO.

Well anyone out there prepared to own up :)

PS: Oh & Jetdriver my old mate when I saw you were the moderator I knew I'd be in good hands :) Didn't realise you were a member of the TPP ie: The PPRuNe Police http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/eek.gif Hope ya don't carry a big black stick with ya & delete this post at your peril mate http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/tongue.gif
